Session four - Sunday, October 16 - 2pm
Baker - Europe 160-198 USA (10-9)
Palermaa / Barrett 218-234 Jones / Barnes (10-10)
Dominic Barrett 216-233 Bill O'Neill (10-11)
Palermaa / Koivuniemi 239-200 Fagan / Barnes (11-11)
Mika Koivuniemi 162-299 Tommy Jones (11-12)
Barrett / Moor 187-242 Jones / O'Neill (11-13)

QUOTES - BILL O'NEILL (USA): "We're very confident now and the lane pattern is playing into our hands and you will see more of that now."

QUOTES - TOMMY JONES (USA): "That's what we needed and now they have to come and get us. I will take this guy (O'Neill) as my doubles partner any time and if they want to come and get some then come and do it."

4.00pm: It has been a miserable session for Europe and they have thrown away the lead with a succession of poor performances. The Jones and O'Neill double act is a successful one as they comfortably beat Barrett and Moor by 243-187.

QUOTES - TOMMY JONES (USA): "I thought I was going to bowl a big number. The crowd were getting bored of me shooting 300 so I did 299 as it was a bit different!

"It's one of those things but it's all about having fun.

"That moose now sounds like a mouse. In this environment you don't get a lot of rhythm as you don't bowl many games and don't have many chances to make 300s."

3.28pm: Agony for Jones and the capacity crowd at Barnsley. After 11 successive strikes, the 10-pin is left standing with the final ball of the match as he wins it be the massive 137-pin margin with a score of 162-299.

3.12pm: Two big splits from Koivuniemi, a 4-6-7-10 and a 2-8-10, early in his match see the result of the next singles match decided very early on. But there is another story as Jones closes in on his fourth Weber Cup 300.

QUOTES - OSKU PALERMAA (EUROPE): "I've been rubbish in the last few sessions so it feels good for us to get a win."

2.45pm: Europe need a good performance and they get it in the next as the duo of Osku Palermaa and Mika Koivuniemi see off the threat of Mike Fagan and Chris Barnes by a score of 239-200. USA are always trailing as they begin with two open frames and Fagan, who has won none of his singles or doubles matches, later misses a shot at a single pin.

QUOTES - BILL O'NEILL (USA): "We needed that win and we needed to get ahead. It wasn't looking good through seven but fortunately for me Dominic threw a couple of bad ones and I managed to get the win. As long as we are ahead at the end that's all that matters."

2.30pm: Europe's woes continue as Dominic Barrett falls to a 233-216 defeat against Bill O'Neill. Barrett makes two open frames, while a pumped up O'Neill ensures USA win their four match in six.

QUOTES - CHRIS BARNES (USA): "It's nice to see some red on the scoreboard. At the start of the sesssion we had to get it back even and now, for the first time since match two, it's level."

QUOTES - DOMINIC BARRETT (EUROPE): "The lane was pretty tricky and to go out and throw a strike when you need to is not the easiest thing to do.

"I don't think we're playing that well. Paul is but Mika, Osku and I haven't hit top gear but if we do then USA will be in a lot of trouble."

1.44pm: The first doubles match of the day is between the Europeans of Osku Palermaa and Dominic Barrett versus Tommy Jones and Chris Barnes, who has not lost a match so far in either singles or doubles play. Barnes continues that record as the Americans win it 234-218. They pull it back to level at 10-10, the first time they have been level since the second match of the competition.

1.20pm: Europe begin the last day with a 10-8 lead but make a horrific start to their Baker as Barrett leaves an open frame in the third and Koivuniemi does likewise in the sixth. A third open frame, this time from Osku Palermaa, hand USA the opening point by 198-160.
